NOTIFICATION Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 No.MVR0519/C.R.80/TR-2 Date: 12th May, 2022

The following draft rules, proposed by the Government of Maharashtra, seek to amend the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, in the exercise of the powers granted by clause (x) of sub-section (2) of section 96 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988), and in accordance with the amendment in sub-rule (6) of rule 90 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. These draft rules are published as required by sub-section (1) of section 212 of the said Act, to inform all affected parties.

Interested individuals may submit objections or suggestions regarding the draft rules to the Transport Commissioner, Maharashtra State, 5th Floor Fountain Telephone Bhavan-2, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Fort, Mumbai 400 001, within thirty days from the date of this draft notification. The Government will consider all received objections or suggestions.

Draft Rules:

1. Title: Maharashtra Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2022.
2. Amendment: Renumber sub-rule (4) of rule 78 of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, as sub-rule (5) of the said rule.
3. New Insertion: Insert a new sub-rule (4) after sub-rule (3) of rule 78 of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, with the following provision: "(4) A goods vehicle covered by a national permit issued by any Regional Transport Authority or State Transport Authority other than in the State of Maharashtra shall not pick up or set down goods between two points in the State of Maharashtra."
