Agra: Complying with the instructions of Taj Trapezium Zone(TTZ), regional transport department has completed its preparation to stop plying of vehicles over 15 years old on roads from January 1. Department has prepared a list of 66,000 such vehicles, including four and two wheelers, in Agra region. Officials said notices were being sent to all vehicle owners to get the “no objection certificate” (NOC) and get these vehicles registered in any other districts as they would not be allowed to ply on roads that come under TTZ.

According to officials, 15-year-old vehicles will not be registered in Agra region — Agra. Mathura, and Firozabad districts — and Hathras as these areas comes under TTZ. Out of the 66,000 vehicles, over 12,000 are four wheelers and 700 are tractors. This rule will be applicable for all types of vehicles — private or commercial.

Recently, in a meeting held to reduce pollution level in the TTZ area, it was decided to ban all 15-year-old vehicles. Now, regional transport department has started proceedings as per the instructions given by the administration.

Talking with TOI, Neha Dwivedi, assistant regional transport officer (administration), said, “As per the TTZ guidelines, we have prepared and handed over the list to the enforcement department of over 66,000 vehicles that have completed 15 years. We have also started issuing notices to the owners. We suggest that the owners get the NOC and register their 15-year-old vehicles in some other district which do not come under TTZ.

“We won’t allow any vehicles over 15 years, including four and two wheelers, to ply on the roads. We have already stopped re-registration of these kinds of vehicles. We have given seven days’ time to the owners to remove their vehicles from the roads. After that, if we find any of these vehicles on the road, we will seize them,” said Sudhir Kumar, regional inspector.
